summertime is here... so am doing a lot of weekend BBQs
so it gets my cooking cap going.. here is a recipe idea that's been running inside my head for the last month or so...
I think I'll call it " Summer Japanese burger" : )
my attempt is to come up with a burger that is both healthy, low in calories (hence turkey), and the taste should be an infusion of mild flavors... that are tropical and refreshing to the taste palette).
1/2 lbs. lean ground turkey
1 small Asian pear pitted and diced
1 small cilantro branch minced or lemongrass or Japanese bunching onion
3 mint leaves minced.
2 large spoonfuls of pear chutney
1 hint of salt
1 hint of pepper
mix all ingredients in a bowl
and make burger patties (about 4 patties).
stored in refrigerator for about an hour.
heat up skillet.
lightly coat it with virgin olive oil - if you can use white olive oil even better)
fry patties until golden brown.
serve burgers on a bed of raw spinach leaves on sesame seed buns.
top with
red beets sliced
diced red onion. (in moderation.. don't want its taste to obscure the pear, cilantro and mint infusion)
baby bean sprouts (to taste)
pepper jack cheese slice.
I will make modifications to this recipe and will post them here. please feel free to experiment and let me know your results or if you have ideas that you think will complete the recipe.. for example ... am undecided whether to use a spread on the burger... definitely no mayonnaise or mustard...
